From Plan to Action: Gulu AST Group Leads Maize Mill Venture Development

GULU, NORTHERN UGANDA – With the decision solidified to establish a community maize mill, the participant group in RFW’s Academy for Social Transformation (AST) pilot has seamlessly transitioned into the intensive venture development phase this week. This marks a critical point where the learning from the Academy translates directly into tangible action and enterprise building.

Drawing significantly on the knowledge and skills acquired during their AST training, the group members are taking the helm. They are actively engaged in crafting detailed business plans, projecting financial requirements and potential revenue, conducting initial market research within the community, strategizing operational logistics, and collaboratively defining specific roles and responsibilities within their nascent enterprise.

In this crucial phase, RFW’s role intentionally shifts from direct instruction to mentorship and guidance. Our team is stepping back from directing the process, instead providing targeted support, offering feedback, and acting as a resource while empowering the group to manage their enterprise development independently.
